Course Description
This course is comprised of 24 hours of study using a comprehensive text book; doing exercises found at the end of the chapters; corresponding with the  instructor; analysis of hypotheticals propounded by the instructor;  participation in discussions with the instructor; written assignments;  submissions, and material and understanding review.

Students are encouraged to contribute to the discussions with their own knowledge and experiences. Reinforcement of learning is accomplished through course and/or chapter objectives and/or quizzes for each lesson. Written assignments provide students with the opportunity to sharpen their analytical and negotiation skills. Direct communication occurs between students and instructor through e-mail.


Outcome

Upon completion of this course, you should be able to do the following:

1.  Understand the principles and tactics of a good negotiator and successful negotiation.
2.  Understand the principles and tactics of a good mediator and successful mediation negotiation.
3.  Understand the principles and tactics of other alternative dispute resolution methods.


Assessment
Exams and projects are graded on a scale of 100 with 73 or above being satisfactory or at the 2.0 GPA level. An academic average of 63% is required in order to pass the course. Students are encouraged to put their full effort into the course to gain the most benefit.

Introduce Yourself to Your Professor.
Read Chapters 1-2

WRITING ASSIGNMENT: Do at least one problem found at the end of each chapter and email to the professor 

Professor will respond with a hypothetical. Analyze the hypothetical and respond with discussion response.

Lesson 2

Read Chapters 3-4

WRITING ASSIGNMENT: Do at least one problem found at the end of each chapter and email to the professor.

WRITING ASSIGNMENT: Do at least one problem found at the end of each chapter and email to the professor. 

Lesson 4

Read Chapters 7-8

WRITING ASSIGNMENT: Do at least one problem found at the end of each chapter and email to the professor.

Read Chapters 9-10

WRITING ASSIGNMENT: Do at least one problem found at the end of each chapter and email to the professor. 

Lesson 6

Read and do one problem from Chapter 11

WRITING ASSIGNMENT: Do at least one problem found in Chapter 11 and email to the professor.
