Course Name
Six Sigma Green Belt Personal Training Library

Contact Hours: 24

Course Description
The Six Sigma Green Belt Library gives one learner access to four core Green Belt courses: Introduction to Lean Six Sigma, The Basics of DMAIC, Basic SPC Training, and Mistake Proofing Training. The Green Belt Library is a prerequisite to the Black Belt Library.

Introduction to Lean Six Sigma is an introductory course on the principles and practices of Six Sigma. (1 Unit; 1 Assessment; Approximately 3 hours of training.)

DMAIC teaches learners the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) problem-solving process as well as tutorials on over 50 data collection and analysis tools such as Pareto diagrams, fishbone diagrams, and flowcharts to name just a few. (2 Units; 2 Assessments; Approximately 7 hours of training.)

Basic SPC Training is a basic yet comprehensive course that makes understanding and applying statistical process control concepts easy. Basic statistics used to analyze patterns of variations, the use of control charts, and measures of measures of process capability are covered in the course. (3 Units; 3 Assessments; Approximately 6 hours of training.)

Mistake Proofing Training includes a comprehensive background on techniques as well as the steps required to implement those techniques. Over 150 examples of mistake-proofing are included. (4 Units; 3 Assessments; Approximately 8 hours of training.)

Outcome

Students will acquire the requisite foundation of knowledge to serve on improvement teams in a Green Belt capacity including:

  • Understand the principles, practices, and terminology of Six Sigma.
  • Be exposed to team problem-solving methodologies.
  • Recognize the importance of the use of data to solve problems.
  • Learn how to use data analysis tools and techniques to measure, analyze, improve, and control processes and their outcomes.
  • Understand how to use basic statistics to analyze patterns of variations.
  • Learn how to use control charts.
  • Understand the measures of process capability.
  • Discover how to use mistake-proofing techniques to prevent errors from occurring.

Assessment
  • Each of the four courses is self-contained with exercises throughout that are self-assessment "quizzes."
  • Each of the four courses has End-of-Unit automated and self-scoring exams (called Challenges) that evaluate student progress, comprehension, and provide constructive feedback on areas of deficiency.
  • Evaluation of student performance for each course will be based upon the following criteria: Final exams = 100% of course grade. Courses must be completed within 3 months of the assigned date.
  • Each of the four courses is self-contained with exercises throughout that are self-assessment "quizzes."

Outline

Six Sigma Green Belt Library

The Six Sigma Green Belt Library gives one learner access to four core Green Belt courses: Six Sigma Start-Up, Basic SPC Training, The Basics of DMAIC, and Mistake-Proof It! The Green Belt Library is a prerequisite to the Black Belt Library.
