Course Description
This course provides an in-depth look at the core features of Adobe FrameMaker.

This course covers the following material:
  • Page Layouts, Master Pages and Reference Pages
  • Books
  • Table of Contents and Indexes
  • Cross-references and Footnotes
  • Variables and Conditional Text
  • Revision Management and Conversion Techniques
If you use an earlier version, slight differences may exist in the product interface.

Outcome
After completing this course, you will be familiar with
  • orking with and modifying page layouts, master pages, and reference pages.
  • Creating books with multiple files.
  • Generating and formatting tables of contents and indexes.
  • Working with and creating custom cross-references.
  • Inserting footnotes.
  • Working with and creating custom variables.
  • Working with conditional text.
  • Managing revisions and converting documents to other formats.

Assessment for this course is based on three projects. These projects, along with their due dates are listed in the following table.

Outline
  1. In the first week, you introduce yourself to the instructor and become familiar with working with page layouts, master pages, and reference pages.

  2. In the second week, you continue to learn about page layouts, master pages, and reference pages. The first project, Page Layouts, is due by the end of this week.

  3. In the third week, you learn about creating and working with books.

  4. In the fourth week, you learn to generate and format tables of contents and indexes. The second project, Books, is due by the end of this week.

  5. In the fifth week, you learn to insert cross-references and footnotes, create custom cross-references, insert and create custom variables, and work with conditional text.

  6. In the final week, you learn to convert documents to other formats, such as PDF and HTML, work with change bars, and use skills learned in this course to complete the final project. The final project, Final Project II, is due by the end of this week.
